PBR Teams, through the bulls

The Draw Report

Every team faces a different pen. This report measures how rank the bulls each team's riders drew had been before each game — and what the riders did with them. In 2026, the Texas Rattlers have faced the toughest draw (72.6% prior buckoff rate) and stand 16–14; the Carolina Cowboys have drawn the most ridable pen (68.5%) and stand 18–13.

How the draw works

The pen

Before every game, each team is drawn a balanced pen of five bulls, as determined by PBR's Director of Livestock. Pens are randomly drawn to the teams.

The pairing

The coach decides which rider gets on which bull, pairing them to get the most out of the team, and can change the pairings from game to game.

The result

The team with the highest total score from its five riders wins the game (PBR Teams 101).

So read the table in two halves. Bulls' prior buckoff % is the luck of the draw — with balanced pens drawn at random, it should even out over a season, and the table shows how much it actually did. Rides covered is what each team's pairings and riders made of the bulls they got.

The rankest bull each team drew

Play coach

Coaches get five bulls and five riders and have to decide who gets on what. Make the same call in Coach's Pen: draw a pen, pick your riders, and see the lineup the numbers favor — then set your own and compare. Or load a real pen from any game in the last two seasons to see the coach's actual lineup, what happened, and how the numbers read the same pen. Or start from one of the rank bulls above: tap Pick a rider for him for a one-on-one projection.

One honest limit: the projector works from the numbers only — buckoff rates, ride rates, and scores. It doesn't know which way a bull turns back, how he leaves the chute, or which hand a rider rides with. Treat it as the stat sheet, not the whole call.

How this is measured

Draw toughness is each bull's record before the game — his buckoff rate and average bull score across every earlier recorded out, on any circuit. Bulls with fewer than five earlier outs are unrated and left out of the draw and ride columns. Teams come from the game listings ("Away @ Home"): a rider belongs to the side he appears on most often that season, which also follows mid-season moves. Game results follow PBR's rule — the higher total score from the five riders wins — computed from the recorded ride scores; games without complete ride records are not decided. We checked the method against PBR's official 2025 regular-season table: every computed record sits at or under the official totals, the gap being the undecided games. For official standings, see PBR.com.

This report doesn't say why one team's draw was tougher than another's — it shows what the numbers show. Data as of Oct 19, 2026. Bull-by-bull Teams standings live on the Teams bull race page.
