Remembering Ridin' Solo
Back-to-back world titles, 93 recorded outs, and only 11 riders who ever made the whistle. A look back at Ridin' Solo, who died on August 10, 2026.
Ridin' Solo died of natural causes on August 10, 2026, at age 10, at the McCoy Ranch in Lane, Oklahoma, where he had retired, PBR reported. He was the 2022 and 2023 World Champion Bull. This is a tribute in the language this site speaks — the record he left.
Back-to-back world titles
In his first title season, 14 of his 15 premier-series outs scored 45 points or better. In his second, 19 of 20 riders never made the whistle.
| Season | Premier outs | Buckoff rate | 45+ outs | Season avg | Championship avg |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | 15 | 80.0% | 14 | 45.85 | 46.47 |
| 2023 | 20 | 95.0% | 8 | 43.33 | 45.70 |
He was already knocking on the door before the titles: in 2021 he finished fourth in the world standings. His best-scored trip came in the first title season — 47.50 points against Dalton Kasel at Little Rock in February 2022.
Eleven rides in 93 outs
Across 93 recorded outs, riders covered Ridin' Solo 11 times. He scored 45 or better on 43 of those outs — tied for the eighth-most 45-point outs of any bull in the record — and at one stretch he bucked off 17 riders in a row. The rides he allowed read like a roll call of the sport:

A World Finals bull
PBR counts seven World Finals appearances in his career. The recorded outs cover six of them, from 2019 through 2024: fourteen World Finals outs, and riders covered him twice. He was retired during the seventh, the 2025 World Finals in Fort Worth — Cord McCoy, PBR wrote, wanted to "retire him at the top of the game."
The people behind him
Ridin' Solo was raised by Curtis Peoples of Ardmore, Oklahoma — by Peoples-31 out of 319 Miss Ridin Solo — and owned through his competitive career by Cord McCoy of McCoy Rodeo, according to PBR, which also notes the offspring he left in the program, among them First Infraction. PBR's data lists his program as Bill McCarty / McCoy Rodeo.
Every one of his 93 outs — each rider, each score — stays on Ridin' Solo's page.
Method: all figures are from PBR Data API ride records as of the September 21, 2026 sync. "Premier outs" are Unleash The Beast outs; the championship average is the average PBR uses to decide the title. The buckoff streak is counted from his recorded outs in date order; the rider career best is the highest ride score that rider has in the recorded data. His death, retirement, ownership, breeding and World Finals count are as reported by PBR.
